Built between 1695 and 1697, by Antonio Gaspari, a disciple of Longhena, the ‘Casin’ was venue to the entertainment and fun of the Zane family, residing in the nearby Palazzo Zane. Today it hosts the French romantic music center.
The conservative intervention has involved the interior decorations, including stuccos and frescoes by artists such as Sebastiano Ricci, Abondio Stazio, Andrea Pelli and Fredinando Fochi. A thorough inspection also revealed the presence of frescoes that had been hidden by subsequent interventions. They have been brought to light in accordance with the Superintendent and the Works Management. The restoration also involved the carved and polychrome wooden balustrade of highest artistic value, a work by Andrea Brustolon.
